LSS Community Care Centers (LSS-CCC), formerly known as Lutheran Social Services of Southern California (LSS/SC), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit social services agency that has served in partnership with its congregations and supporters for more than 65 years.

Fostering humanitarian efforts and goodwill in the community, LSS Community Care Centers has grown into a flourishing organization, led by faithful, passionate and committed individuals since its inception.

Originally formed and incorporated in 1945, LSS Community Care Centers was the outcome of Lutheran Churches of San Diego, The Welfare Commission in San Diego and First Lutheran Church Los Angeles uniting together for one goal; to be a servant to those in need. With their wisdom and vision, Pastor Friedlund, Pastor Towe and Pastor Kibler spearheaded the mission and the non-profit agency was formed. Orin Crockett led the work for many years and his generosity enabled many projects to be funded.

The agency continues to show a passion for Christ and HIS Church by the delivery of social services that affect outreach and social justice. This passion continues throughout the LSS-CCC ministry by doing work that:

-Improves the quality of life for people with limited options

-Promotes mental, physical and spiritual healing

-Encourages human growth and development

-Provides continuum’s of care for those in need

Today, this ministry encompasses counties throughout Southern California including Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Long Beach and San Diego.

As we look at our Lutheran heritage, we are reminded that freedom to serve is, by grace, our freedom to serve, as Martin Luther saw so well.

The Board and staff of LSS-CCC are committed to making the 21st Century an even more significant period in the history of the Lutheran Church’s social service heritage. LSS-CCC will continue to change lives and give hope and comfort to those who are lost in the darkness
